Rusty Wallace won in 2004, after a four year consecutive winning streak from 1993 to 1996. The 2007 race will showcase the Car of Tomorrow, a five-year design project that started after the death of Dale Earnhardt. Primary concerns were safety, competition and performance, and cost efficiency. Improved handling and more "crushability" are also built into the car's template, which will be the same for each car.
