The Kansas 400, formerly known as the Banquet 400 from 2003-2006, is a NASCAR Nextel Cup race that takes place at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas.

It is one of the ten races in the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup. The first race took place in 2001, and covers 400.5 miles in 267 laps. It was first called the Protection One 400 in 2001 and 2002. It is preceded by the Dover 400 and followed with the UAW Ford 500. The 2006 winner was Tony Stewart, who followed the 2005 win of Mark Martin. Joe Nemechek won in 2004 after Ryan Newman's 2003 win. Jeff Gordon won for the first two consecutive years of the Kansas 400, in 2001 and 2002.

The Kansas Speedway holds 82,000 people and is a one-and-a-half-mile tri-oval with 15 degree banking in its turns. Other major events hosted at the Speedway are the NASCAR Busch Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The track pavement width is 55 feet, and the front stretch banking is 10.4 degrees and five degrees in the back stretch. Currently in its final phase of development, the track estimates a total of 150,000 seats upon completion.
